Best Babymoon Destinations In California
Palm Springs Babymoon Locations
So, let's talk about Palm Springs! This oasis in the middle of the desert is absolutely perfect for a California babymoon destination. Just imagine soaking up the sunshine, with warm and inviting weather all year round. It's a fantastic destination for a sunny relaxing vacation. However, note that during the summer, the temperatures can sometimes go up to 115 degrees, making it very uncomfortable to be outside, unless you are in a pool. So watch for the weather forecast, especially during the hot summer days.
Many resorts in Palm Springs are boutique style hotels, and once you go more towards the 'resort town', resorts generally are large, especially as you pick ones that are near Indio, Palm Desert, and Indian Wells. You can also find many restaurants in downtown Palm Springs that offer a wide range of cuisines to satisfy those pregnancy cravings.
a. JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa
A beautiful and very large resort in Palm Springs that might be great as a babymoon destination! One unique thing about this hotel is that there is a large lagoon / waterway in front of the hotel and there is a gondola (small boat) that takes you on a tour on the water. (pictured above from our room)
On a cool winter night, it might be a fun option (not so much during the hot summer days when it's unbearable!) The resort also has adult only pools (it does not have any lazy rivers or water slides), and a very large arcade, if you feel like cooling off with some games. There's also a mini golf course for you to play, and a spa that also has 60 minute prenatal massage at around $245!
b. Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa
This is the exact resort I went for my babymoon when I had my second baby. First one was in Hawaii, and for the second one, we decided to stay in California. This is kind of our go to hotel in Palm Springs with the kids with their kid friendly pools with crazy water slides and lazy rivers. They also have adult only poolside, which is where I lounged for my babymoon (pictured above). During summer vacation times, this resort does get fairly crowded with lots of families with kids visiting, so just be aware.
The spa building is located right next to the gym, and offers tranquil and peaceful environment, and offers prenatal massage. I loved sitting outside with waterview while I wait for my prenatal massage to start. (pictured below)
This is a pet friendly hotel with a fee and also has villas you can rent if you want more privacy from the main hotel crowd. Being a bit far from the reception though, you will need to get golf cart to take you to the villa side though.
c. Ritz Carlton, Rancho Mirage
My love for Ritz Carlton resorts started when I visited on in Tokyo. But any one of them won't disappoint you. They have exceptional service and as a result their price reflects it. It's nestled on the Hill so you get an amazing view of the Coachella view from the resort and is quiet and peaceful.
The hotel has a massive two story spa building, although it does not currently have prenatal massage on their menu. The resort also has adult only pool side, which will give you more peace and quiet away from kids.
d. Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa
This resort has 3 pools, which includes one adult only pool and one that is very family friendly, which has water slides and lazy rivers. Their spas also have an outdoor pool area where you can lounge around quietly, while waiting to get your prenatal massage done.
Prenatal massage price ranges between $185 - $195. It also has a golf course, although currently it looks like it is undergoing some updating. If you enjoy playing tennis/pickleball, this resort would also offer you those activities. Being a very family friendly resort, expect many kids and families to vacation here.
e. The Colony Palms Hotel and Bungalows
If you're up for an authentic true Palm Springs babymoon experience, you absolutely have to check out The Colony Palms Hotel and Bungalows. It's right in the heart of Palm Springs and it's the perfect place for couples who want to relax and soak up some local culture. Their overall vibe is very Palm Springs, with vibrant colors and upscale design. And as an adult only resort, you know you won't be seeing kids at this hotel splashing around or running around in the hallway. Their spa also caters to pregnant women, with 60 minute massage priced at $255.
This is a boutique hotel, and the size of the pools and the hotel itself is small compared to others on the list. But with its proximity to downtown Palm Springs and its aesthetics, you might want to check it out.
Carmel-By-The-Sea Babymoon Resorts
The gorgeous coastline of Big Sur is an ideal babymoon destination for couples who love nature and tranquility. Carmel-by-the-sea is a charming and picturesque town (beach pictured above), with its quaint cottages, art galleries and fine dining restaurants. It is also known for its white sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs, perfect for romantic walks or picnics. This used to be my favorite go-to place when living in the San Francisco bay area. The total vibe is very relaxed and picturesque. One of the beautiful California coastline you will want to see.
Carmel Valley Ranch is the epitome of a luxurious nature retreat for expecting couples seeking a serene babymoon experience. The resort offers a wide range of amenities and activities tailored to both your relaxation and adventuring desires. There are many hiking trails and seeing an animal or two will be a norm here. You can take leisurely strolls through their organic gardens, engage in interactive cooking classes or eat complimentary smores. They also have pools, hot tubs, and tennis courts for you to enjoy. This resort is very family friendly and you will see lots of families with young kids.
Ventana Big Sur is a top-notch resort with secluded location and breathtaking views of the coastline. The room rates are high here but it's definitely worth it for the privacy and luxury this resort offers.
One unique thing about this resort is that they offer glamping. If you are into camping while having access to all the amenities, this place might give you that experience with luxury.
Another unique thing about this resort is their meditation center. Their yoga and meditation classes can help you relax and connect with your partner during your babymoon.
They also offer a variety of activities at the resort, such as watercolor classes and astrology reading. As an adult only resort, this resort offers a variety of activities while providing relaxations.
c. Tickle Pink Inn
Tickle Pink Inn is a charming oceanfront boutique hotel located in the picturesque town of Carmel-by-the-Sea. This luxurious yet intimate inn offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and rugged cliffs, making it the perfect destination for a romantic babymoon.
Some rooms also has jacuzzi in the room, for a relaxing night to rest your body. The property has complimentary breakfast every day, and also offers cheese and cracker plate at the reception every evening.
With its short distance to the cute town, Carmel-by-the-Sea, this hotel might be the place to feel special and get relaxation for your babymoon!
Near Los Angeles Babymoon Resort
If you are looking to escape a bit of hustle and bustle in Los Angeles but don't want to go too far, here is one of the great babymoon locations in California that you may not have heard about.
a. Terranea
It's loved by so many locals. This resort was where I stayed for my wedding. Now I live 10 minutes away from this resort, and definitely gives peaceful and serene vibe whenever I visit. Just taking a stroll along the coastline, taking in the breathtaking view makes you forget that you are actually still in Los Angeles. It's a gem, especially if you are not into traveling many hours from Los Angeles.
Their spa also offers prenatal massages, and your partner can also use the facility by getting a day pass, which includes spa pool.
A short drive to south Redondo beach near Hollywood Riviera where there are small shops and lots of good restaurants) or Trump National Golf course where you can go for a nice stroll for a scenic sunset.
Here's an image of scenic sunset from Trump National Golf course, which is a short 5 minute drive from the resort. You can see similar sunset views from the resort as well.

A short walk to the iconic La Jolla lookout point of seals pictured below:
e. Laguna Cliff Marriott Hotel
I’ve stayed at this resort about two times and whenever I visit, I’m just blown away by the view and the peaceful vibe. This hotel faces the Dana Point marina and there is stairs and walkway that leads you to the Marina. You can take about 10 minute stroll down the trail and walk around the marina with beautiful yachts and boats docked and grab a nice cup of coffee in the morning or take a stroll during sunset shopping at cute little shops.
Here’s a picture taken from the 3rd floor. There was a wedding on the front lawn that day. 🙂
The resort has two heated pools, few activities such as beachfront yoga classes and pickleball/tennis court. They only have valet parking with a flat $46 fee, which might be an added cost on top of the resort fee. Their spa facility isn’t that big, although they do offer prenatal massage for 60 minutes at $220.
Here's a view from the front lawn of the hotel
For a classic and luxurious babymoon experience, Hotel Coronado is the go-to destination. This historic hotel offers stunning beachfront views and is situated right on the what it seems like never ending sandy beach. It's walking distance to a street full of cute shops and restaurants, making it ideal for you to soak in the sun while enjoying the local community.
It's also close to San Diego downtown, only taking about 10 minutes in car ride. Hotel Coronado has a variety of activities to choose from, such as yoga on the beach, couples massages and also pre-natal classes for expecting mothers at their spa.

Plus, the resort offers packages specifically designed for babymooners with special amenities and services to make your stay extra special.
Santa Barbara Babymoon Destinations
Santa Barbara is absolutely one of my favorite places to vacation when I'm needing a change of scenery from Los Angeles. The picturesque drive from LA along the Malibu coast makes the drive so pleasant and enjoyable. And the easy access to the beach right near the busy streets of Santa Barbara downtown makes the coast line even more attractive.
With lots of places to take a stroll and many upscale resorts to stay, Santa Barbara is definitely a great place for a babymoon!
Pictured at the beach during sunset time facing the Santa Barbara Pier. (I walked to this spot while staying at Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront hotel).
Nestled right next to the beach, this property has amazing view of the ocean and has a breathtaking view walkways that you can stroll around within the property. You can access the beach directly from the resort, which is a huge plus, if you want an easy stroll on the beach. Has two pools (one adult only, and one for family) and the spa also has a spa pool as well. Spa, although big with two stories, doesn't seem to offer prenatal massage.
You can see the walkway from the resort all the way down to the beach. Amazing view direct from the resort trail.
b. Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront
One great thing about this hotel is that you can walk to the main beach from this hotel. And it's so close to Santa Barbara downtown and close to so many awesome restaurants and attractions.
There is one large outdoor heated pool (for winter time) and a small mini golf area, as well as a tennis court. This is also a pet friendly hotel with a fee.
They have a small spa are with a mommy to be massage at $170, which is relatively cheaper than some other resorts.
