Let's talk about the most exciting party of them all: the baby shower! It's a day to celebrate the impending arrival of your little bundle of joy, and boy do we have some fun ideas to make it unforgettable!
First things first, let's talk theme. There are so many adorable themes to choose from…
And for my very good friend, she chose sage green baby shower theme. That’s all she wanted in terms of aesthetics..
BUT I had to add some more elements to it! So I decided to combine green baby shower theme with the classic "Oh Baby Baby theme”. It's simple, cute, and perfect for a gender-neutral shower.
Although it was for a baby boy, it would work for both genders. Plus, who doesn't love a good play on words?
I’ve used some inspirational images like these to help me put together the party. As we all know, depending on the party location, I had to be very creative in where I put the center table…
And there were certain existing decorations I couldn’t modify. But overall, it came out so pretty!

Oh Baby Shower - Decorations
Now, onto the decorations! You can't have a baby shower without some cute oh baby decorations!
- Sage Green Baby Shower Balloons: I bought an electric balloon pump to help make the arch. We actually had two arches, one for the center table and for the entrance. I wish I took a picture of the entrance too!
- Oh Baby Sign
- Diaper Cake - Big one and few small ones to put around as decor. I followed some instructions to make the big one. I bought a mega size diaper box that had 120 diapers and it was enough to make a large one and few small ones. I followed some tutorials like this to put it all together! I’ve used ribbons from Michales!
- Baby Socks for the Picture Garland
- Various cake/cupcake stands to put cupcakes
- Garland - We kept it simple with some real eucalyptus leaves and fake ones from Amazon
- Baby Shower Game Signs - We had four games set up. You can get Oh Baby Sage Green Baby Shower Theme Game Signs like this one
As for food, we had a mix of store bought cupcakes, cake pops, and mother in law made treats for the desert table. We ordered mini sandwiches, salad, and pasta salad for the lunch menu.
Now, onto the baby shower games. The father-to-be had a request to not have too cheesy baby shower games….
But let’s be honest! Most of them ARE cheesy. We tried to do games that are not so common and picked out “Guess the baby food”, “Chug The Bottle”, “Guess Who, Mom or Dad?”, and “Play doh baby shower game”.
Out of all of these, I would say playdough baby shower game and chug the bottle was the most fun for our group!
Baby registry was set up for guests to shop from! My friend had an Amazon registry where we can easily see what she needed! Guests either brought the gifts to the baby shower or had it delivered directly to her house before the baby shower.
My friend had a beautiful sage green dress for her sage green baby shower decorations. It went perfectly well with the theme and showed her cute belly! I've also compiled a list of cute maternity dresses for baby shower here.
And here are some helpful questions we had to ask ourselves during the preparation phase.
1. What kind of games should I have at the baby shower?
I have a great post that goes over baby shower game ideas. Someone from the organizing party will have to lead each of the game so people actually participate and enjoy. For example, I had to remind everyone at the party to pick out a play doh can so that they can participate in the game.
2. Should I give party favors to the guests?
This is also really depends. Usually, the party favors are given out by the host of the party to the guests, thanking them for coming to the event. IN the case of a baby shower thrown for the mother-to-be by friends and family, party favors may not be necessary…as guests are throwing the party for the mom to be! If the mom-to-be wants to give out favors to thank guests for attending the baby shower. some popular party favors include personalized candles, mini succulents, and baby-themed chocolates.
3. What kind of food should I serve at the baby shower?
Well, you can serve any kind of food that the mom-to-be enjoys. However, we made sure we include vegetarian dishes as well as nut-free in case some people are allergic to nuts. Also, since this was a coed baby shower which included kids, we had kid friendly dishes like PB&J sandwiches.
