Packing veggies and fruits in a smoothie is a wonderful way to eat healthy especially you are always on the go or you have a busy morning. I love making smoothies for my kids as a on the go snack as well. They are filling and they are my all time favorite way to sneak in veggies without always eating salads or negotiating with kids to stuff veggies in their diet. When you combine the right veggies and fruits, they taste delicious, while giving you all the nutritional benefits you need to feel energized and healthy.

Thick Healthy Smoothie Recipes
Once you add yogurt, the smoothie become a bit more thick. But it is a great way to add protein to your smoothie drink and very kid friendly. Use other proteins like protein powder, or nut butters, if you don't want to add any dairy into your protein. Instead of cow's milk, you can also add rice milk, coconut water, or almond milk.
Few things to keep in mind when you are making a smoothie for kids:
- To add protein, consider greek yogurt or nut butter like peanut butter or almond butter, granted the kid isn't allergic to nuts.
- To make it tasty for beginners, add sweet fruits like mangos, pineapples, peaches, or bananas. You can buy them frozen or fresh! Add honey for sweetness for babies over 1 year old.
- For adults, adding protein powder, hemp seeds, or nut butter is also a great way to add protein.
- Coconut water adds sweetness than water. But if your kids like dairy, adding milk to the smoothie will make it more creamy and thick!
- If your kid is just beginning to drink smoothies, avoid veggies like celery, beets, or ginger. They have strong taste and may make your kid not want to drink smoothie ever again!
- Alternate leafy greens - I like to alternate kale/spinach and add cucumber/celery for added nutrients and wateriness to my smoothie!
