The 7 Toddler Toys That Actually Last Long For 2+ Years - Boy Toys You Won’t Regret Buying - With my 5 year old son staying at home at all times due to his school being closed, it has become more important for me to entertain him at home with engaging toys and activities.
After buying toys after toys for years now, I wanted to share few toys that are really worth buying. Toys that...
- Last you years.
- Help your little one be occupied for more than 30 minutes.
- You won’t regret buying.
And I want to mention that while the toys that you buy that have lots of buttons and songs seem like they will be worth the money and you kid will like it, from my experience, they really don’t last that much and many times have been a disappointment.
If you are looking for toys that will last you years for boys, then this is it!
I’ve had these toys since my 5 year old was about 1.5 years old and these are still the ones that I have in his room that he plays with.
So if you are also looking for gift ideas for boys that are between 2-6 years old, look no further!

The 7 Toddler Toys That Actually Last Long For 2+ Years - Boy Toys You Won’t Regret Buying
1. DUPLO
I’ve had duplos since my son was about a year old and boy oh boy they last a long time!
And they are educational toys that will help your baby’s brain development as they use the blocks to build cars, houses, and other cool structures.
It also occupies them for a long time (I’m talking more than few minutes) and as your little one gets older, you will be surprised to see the structures that he builds. But because these are geared more towards babies, most kids graduate to playing with Legos.
Overall, for a toy that could last 3+ years I say it’s worth buying!
2. LEGO
Legos are so amazing! It will occupy my son for HOURS and he will come up with all the cool creations after tinkering for a long time.
AND when you buy a box for the first time, your boy will learn to follow instructions and build things on his own, freeing you from having to play with your little one non-stop while he is at home.
I especially love their 3 in 1 sets since my son can actually make three different types of legos.
And I also love DK Build Your Own Adventure Lego books that is kind of like a story book but also includes legos that your kid can use to make few lego items.
And if you kid is into Ninjagos, he will definitely love all the DK ninjago series. My son has looked at these books multiple times and tried to make things on his own by just browning through the book. So definitely worth it.
And even after they play with it following instructions, your little one will continue to build with legos making things on their own. It’s soooo worth the money!
Plus, it’s also really educational.
Now with the covid-19 and schools going online in the fall, all we buy are legos...because we know it’s so worth it!

3. Magnet Toys
Magnet toys are also something I’ve had for a long time, since my baby was about 2 years old. It’s something that my 1 year old would also play with.
When I used to pick my son up from school, he would also be playing with magnets at school with his friends. It’s similar to legos in that it helps your kid to build things on their own.
It promotes creativity and if you have enough magnets, it will definitely occupy them for a long time.
We have both Magna Tiles and Magformers well. The key to getting them to really play a lot with these is having a lot of these magnets…
So I would stick to one brand and get more of the same brand than buy two different one and not have enough for your little one to play with.
4. Play Dough
The play dough toys I bought since my son was about a year and a half is still lasting me even when he is almost 6 years old.
I’ve got sets that help you make different types of food and he still pretends to make stuff with it for me with play dough. I will say he doesn’t play with it as much as he used to (his current obsession is legos!) but it certainly lasted us a 2+ years!
5. Hot Wheels
What boy doesn’t like hot wheels!
We’ve collected so many of these and they are $0.99 per car from Target so it was always one of those things I would buy as a ‘treat’ if he is good when I’m running errands.
I will say though, we’ve bought a lot of cool hot wheels toys in the past which really just sits on one of the shelves. He loved it and would play when his friends are over but these don’t last as long as legos, duplos, or magnets. But the cars will definitely last a long time.
6. Plasma Car
We’ve had these plasma cars for years now.
We bought it when he was almost close to 2 and he still rode them like crazy until he was about 4 years old.
Whenever I went to pick him up at his preschool (before covid-19 and when he was still going to pre-school), him and his friends would have so much fun just riding on the plasma car.
So much that his shoes would always be so wrecked that I had to buy shoes every month. :/ But these are definitely worth buying, especially if you have a large yard space with cement or safe driveway where your kid can ride in them.
7. Board Games
Most likely, you will have to play board games with your kids so it’s really not that one of those toys that promote ‘independent toy’. But I wanted to include it in this list because I wanted to introduce few board games that were totally worth the money...because my son really played so many times.
I love Zingo because it’s fun and your kid will want ot play over and over and over….Especially if your kid is a bit competitive like mine…
I also love Peaceable Kingdom card games I found this when I was traveling and you can play matching games with this and also use it as a puzzle.
The cards are also thick like puzzles and large which helps with keeping the cards intact and prevent losing it when cards are small and flimsy.
I hope this list was helpful in making decisions to buy a toy for your little boys...or trying to buy a gift for a kid’s birthday You really wouldn't regret buying any these 7 Toddler Toys That Actually Last Long For 2+ Years - Boy Toys You Won’t Regret Buying!
